When purchasing a gantry welding machine, start with a practical question: can the proposed system consistently produce the parts your customers will accept? A high advertised welding rate cannot answer that question on its own.
Two mesh panels with the same wire diameter may need different fixtures or welding arrangements because their dimensions, intersection patterns and loading methods differ. A useful comparison therefore begins with a clear description of the workpiece, followed by a test of the complete production process.

Include both common products and the most demanding products in your planned range. A machine demonstrated only on the easiest panel may not represent the conditions that determine your purchasing decision.
Chicken cage panels, refrigerator shelves and storage rack panels serve different purposes. Their inspection plans should reflect the actual product drawing and intended use.

Use these resources to frame questions for the supplier. Acceptance of your particular workpiece still requires an agreed inspection method and representative samples.
A welding cycle rate is not automatically the number of acceptable panels produced per hour. Ask whether the quoted rate includes loading, wire positioning, clamping, welding, release, unloading and any routine checks.
If operators arrange wires manually, include that work in the demonstration. If your factory changes products frequently, observe a changeover and measure the time needed to resume accepted production. For small batches, fixture changes and first-piece approval can materially affect the usable output of a shift.
Ask each supplier to demonstrate the same workpiece under comparable staffing and inspection conditions. This makes cycle-time claims more useful than comparisons based on different sample products.
